|
Usually gene transfer to plants has been achieved with Agrobacterium, but as this biological vector system does not effectively function with cereals or other important crops, trees or flower, a variety of alternative approaches have been developed for overcoming this problem. Gene transfer by particle bombardment is currently one of the most promising approaches to applicate for transforming tissues or single cell of plants. In this review the outline of procedure for transformation by A. tumefaciens and particle bombardment or other alternative methods was surveyed and its advantages and disadvantages were compared.
